The service provides 27 car-engine- items free checking at 50 PTT gas stations all over the country during 8th-17th October 2010 and at other 100 participated ProCheck stations until December 31st, 2010. 83,000 cars are expected to join the service which could save energy equal to 6 million liters of fuel oil used yearly and lessen green house gas emission of 13 million kilograms which can be compared to reforest areas of 3,250 Rai (5.2 square kilometer).

 This afternoon (October 7th, 2010) at the PTT Gas station, Chalerm Maha Nakhon Expressway (Outbound), Dr. Wannarat Channukul, Minister of Energy, presided over at an opening of the car-engine checking and saving energy project called “PTT ENGINE TUNE UP 2010” together with Mr. Prasert Bunsampun, President and Chief Executive Officer, PTT Public Company Limited and Mr. Phansak Rojanakas, Deputy Secretary General - Vocational Education Commission (VEC). This project is one of the project of the Ministry of Energy called “63 Million Thais Help Reduce Global Warming for Our King” in campaigning to boost people’s conscious about energy saving and reduce effect causes the global warming.

 Dr. Wannarat informed that the Ministry of Energy concerns that it is our core duty to supply and establish energy stability of the country at the same time supporting ways to save and conserve energy. Therefore, the ministry has cooperated with subordinate sectors in organizing activities to reduce green house gas emission under the project of “63 Million Thais Help Reduce Global Warming for Our King” to make it tangible with integrated actions. The “PTT ENGINE TUNE UP 2010” is considered as one of the energy saving measure that is a good sample of the driving force to awaken Thai society to pay closer attention to the efficiency of car-engine which not only helps save fuel oil but also reduces carbon dioxide emission.

 Mr. Prasert revealed that PTT has established this “PTT Engine Tune Up” since 2004 with an intention to help support the beneficial used of fuel oil and reduce air pollution. This year, the 7th year of PTT Engine Tune Up, our project is still a part of “63 Million Thais Help Reduce Global Warming for Our King” Project of the Ministry of Energy that helps increase capacity of energy use. This year, PTT expects 83,000 cars to join the service which will be able to save 6 million liters of fuel oil used yearly, reduce spending of participated car’s owner of 2,190 baht per year and lessen green house gas emission of 13 million kilograms which can be compared to forestry areas of 3,250 Rai (5.2 square kilometer). From the beginning of this project until August, there were 55,000 cars received the services.

 PTT works together with the Vocational Education Commission (VEC) in providing FREE car-engine checking in aiming to reduce amount of fuel used and reduce air pollution. PTT Engine Tune Up project provides 27 car-engine-items free checking and other consultants about car maintenance at 50 PTT gas stations all over the country from 8th-17th October 2010. After that there would be an extension of service duration of 15 car-engine-items free checking until 31st December 2010 at 100 ProCheck stations that are situated in various location of Thailand.
